Food Security

A Nigeria where no one is hungry

By improving families’ access to nutritious food and increasing their incomes, we can ensure healthy lives, thriving communities

Cultivating a sustainable future: Food security for all

Food security is a fundamental human right, yet millions of people worldwide suffer from hunger malnutrition, and poverty. The consequences are far-reaching, affecting individuals and communities.  Our mission is to address these challenges head-on, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food, while protecting the planet for future generations. In the face of rising food insecurity,  Olutoju is working in some vulnerable communities in Nigeria to ensure that no one dies from hunger or suffers chronic malnutrition.

Chronic hunger, poverty, and escalating food prices are inextricably linked.  Chronic hunger is a silent, and persistent crisis affecting individuals and communities daily yet often overlooked and under-addressed. To break free from this cycle, we support vulnerable households in Nigeria and SSA to adopt sustainable, self-reliant approaches that empower them to take control of their food security and build resilience against price volatility.

Feeding Assistance

By providing immediate relief for vulnerable households. We work with our partners and local food banks to provide food, cash, and other basic supplies to vulnerable and poor households to prevent hunger in the short-term and help communities build resilience against future shocks. Here is how we do it:

Food Rescue

We work with food companies and farmers to rescue food  that’ll otherwise go to waste.

Food Storage

Our banks and depot collect, store and portion food for different communities in need.

Food Distribution

We work with our staff and volunteers to distribute food across the country.

We promote food security by empowering small and medium-sized enterprises. We provide training, access to finance markets, and mentorship that help families regain self-sufficiency.
Through our program, we also facilitate linkages between SMEs and larger markets, ensuring that surplus produce reaches consumers, reducing food waste and promoting a more equitable food system.

We conduct comprehensive research and analysis to better understand food security challenges, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for innovation. Our research focuses on key areas, including:

  • Food availability and access
  • Nutritional outcomes and health impacts
  • Food Utilisation
  • Food stability: Assessing the resilience of food systems to shocks, such as climate change, conflicts, and economic downturns
  • Sustainable agriculture practices; food waste reduction and recovery

Our research focuses on key areas, including:

  • Food assistance programs: Evaluating the effectiveness of programs aimed at improving food security
